First LEGO Harry Potter DOTS 2023 set revealed

A LEGO Harry Potter DOTS 2023 set has magicked its way on to the building instructions app, giving us our first look at 41809 Hedwig Pencil Holder.

Representing one of LEGO DOTS’ final swansongs before the LEGO Group retires the arts and crafts theme later this year, 41809 Hedwig Pencil Holder is its first collaboration with the Wizarding World. Unlike DOTSDisney sets, though, this one doesn’t appear to include any printed tiles unique to Harry Potter.

Instead, it uses a combination of block colours to give its buildable Hedwig a Gryffindor scarf. The only exclusive element of the set comes in its additional envelope, which is stamped with a wax seal (four standard corner 1×1 tiles) and includes what looks to be a double-sided piece of parchment, decorated with images of Hogwarts castle and luggage.

41809 Hedwig Pencil Holder has so far only appeared through the official LEGO Builder app, but a full reveal at LEGO.com should be right around the corner. We don’t yet know for sure how many pieces it includes, or how much it will cost, but rumours suggest it will retail for €19.99 with 508 bricks in the box.

Two more LEGO Harry Potter DOTS sets are said to be on the way in March – which is when 41809 Hedwig Pencil Holder is expected to arrive on shelves – but there’s no sign of either 41808 or 41811 in the app yet.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
