LEGO Ideas Portal 2: Core Replacement Station accesses 10K supporters

The latest LEGO Ideas submission based on the Portal video game series has now received a successful upgrade to 10,000 supporters.

A number of LEGO Ideas submissions created by Portal fans have appeared over the last few years, with the most recent being Portal 2: P-Body & Atlas, a design that’s been selected as one of 54 builds that managed to qualify for the third LEGO Ideas review of 2024.

Joining the successful model in the first review of 2025 is Portal 2: Core Replacement Station, created by OldSchoolBoy. This is the fan designer’s first model to reach the 10K supporters mark and it's one that takes a unique desktop display-based approach to its video game subject matter.

Consisting of 995 pieces, Portal 2: Core Replacement Station features Wheatley, a floating spherical AI voiced in the game by Stephen Merchant. OldSchoolBoy notes that there are a lot of moving parts in the personality core, complete with custom graphics for the interchangeable eye elements.

Wheatley can be attached to the Core Replacement Station with a connector, just like in Portal 2, with the latter sitting at an angle and featuring plenty of additional detail. Rounding out the LEGO Ideas submission is a poseable potatOS, based on Portal 2’s fiction which saw GLaDOS’ personality placed into a potato battery, and was added to the build following community requests from fans of the game.

Portal 2: Core Replacement Station becomes the 10th LEGO Ideas model to make it into the first review of 2025, with months to go before the final submission deadline.
