LEGO Ideas project inspired by real-life helicopter hero reaches 10K

A brick-built version of a rescue helicopter has made it past 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas, putting it into contention for becoming a real LEGO Ideas set.

Fan designer bart_afol was inspired to create Polish Falcon – Resque Service while they were hiking in the Tatra Mountains, climbing one of the most difficult trails known as Orla Per?.

“After six hours of hiking, I heard the characteristic sound of a helicopter,” they wrote. “When you hear such a sound in the high parts of mountains, you know that someone needs urgent help and the rescuers’ journey on foot would be too long or it would be impossible to carry down the injured person.”

That inspired them to create a brick-built version of the rescue helicopter used by TOPR (Tatra Mountain Volunteer Rescue Service). Some of the photos pictured below were taken on Kozi Wierch, part of Orla Per?, with the transparent support elements removed.

Polish Falcon – Resque Service becomes the 32nd project in the third 2024 review. Check out its competition for becoming a real LEGO Ideas set in the table below.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
