Australia’s Perth is getting its very own official LEGO Store this year.
The first LEGO shop in Perth was originally supposed to open up in 2020, announced in 2019, but the pandemic delayed those plans. Now, it seems that the LEGO Group will be able to open its first retail location in the city this year. Negotiations on exactly where it will be located are still ongoing, with Joondalup, Karrinyup, or Garden City Shopping Centre all rumoured to be up for discussion.
According to Richard Facioni, founder and chief executive of Sydney-based ACTA Capital, the company that will be financing the investment behind opening a LEGO Certified Store, strong sales from other channels indicate that Perth will be a bustling location for LEGO products.
“We have been progressing discussions on a number of fronts and are reasonably confident our first Perth store will open this side of Christmas,” said Facioni to Perth Now.
There is also talk that two more LEGO stores will open up in Perth in the next couple of years, with the intention of having at least one shop on either side of the Central Business District in Perth. At the moment, there is currently a total of eight LEGO stores in Australia
