So much for that other rumoured LEGO X-Men 2023 set, then
The reveal of LEGO Marvel 76250 Wolverine’s Adamantium Claws seemingly disproves the existence of a previously-rumoured LEGO X-Men set.
In April this year, reports surfaced that the set number 76250 would belong to a Marvel set (not necessarily a sure thing, given the superhero theme shares its product numbers with DC) – and that it would expand the Marvel Helmet Collection, which originally kicked off in 2020 with 76165 Iron Man Helmet and has since grown to encompass busts including 76187 Venom and 76199 Carnage.
According to rumours re-reported by 1414falconfan (and originally posted by fluffysky6 on reddit, who also gave us the first word on this summer’s 76414 Expecto Patronum), 76250 was slated to be a buildable Wolverine mask. That would have made sense next to hollow helmet (and helmet-adjacent) sets like 75327 Luke Skywalker (Red Five) Helmet and 76182 Batman Cowl, so it wasn’t a difficult story to buy into.
But that set number has now been usurped by 76250 Wolverine’s Adamantium Claws, as revealed by an Australian LEGO Certified Store earlier today, which is a 596-piece set expected to retail for £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 (based on its Australian price of $109.99). That’s also the same price tag allocated to the rumoured Wolverine mask, so it sounds like the source of this story had the details right, but not the broad strokes.
Beyond the set being related to Wolverine, anyway, which marks the superhero’s second set in 2023 (following June’s 76257 Wolverine Construction Figure). Both models are hooked to the upcoming Disney+ series X-Men ’97, which will reportedly also receive minifigures in the rumoured LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures Series 2.
Of course, there’s always a chance that the original source of the Wolverine mask rumour simply conflated two similar products, and the LEGO Group really is still gearing up to bring us Logan’s mask to go alongside his claws. For now, we’d recommend minimising expectations around any such set – and taking this as a timely reminder that LEGO rumours don’t always pan out as expected…

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
