The Little Mermaid has a lot of LEGO Disney minifigures

With the reveal of the three new LEGO The Little Mermaid, the Disney animated and live-action movie has a lot of minifigures and mini-dolls.

As one of the most iconic Disney animated movies and the subject of a live-action remake on May 26, 2023, The Little Mermaid has a fair few LEGO sets to its name. However, it’s also one of the few Disney films to have minifigure, mini-dolls and micro-dolls for some of its characters.

While we wait for the new movie, let’s look at every type of LEGO figure both the animated and live-action versions of The Little Mermaid, not including any variations or alternate outfits.

Ariel

As the star of The Little Mermaid, Ariel has the most minifigures, mini-dolls and micro-dolls of the cast, featuring in all three forms in both the live-action and animated versions of the character. Ariel has also received a DUPLO figure.

Ursula

Ursula is the antagonist of The Little Mermaid and has quite a few figures, though not quite as many as Ariel. Her live-action interpretation has a minifigure and micro-doll and her animated depiction has a minifigure and mini-doll, covering every kind of figure between the two films.

Prince Eric

Prince Eric has yet to debut as a minifigure but the animated character has a mini-doll and micro-doll while the live-action version has only a micro-doll in 43213 Little Mermaid Story Book. Eric has also received a DUPLO figure, but it’s set has long since retired.

King Triton

King Triton is one of the lesser-represented characters in The Little Mermaid’s LEGO sets, though his live-action interpretation has a minifigure in 43225 The Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell with the same head and hair piece used between them.

The Seven Princesses of Atlantica

Not including Ariel, the cast of the Daughters of Triton differs between the live-action and animated movies with Mala, Indira, Caspia, Tamika, Karina, and Perla in the former and Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista and Andrina in the latter.

Two sisters from each film have been represented as LEGO figures at the time of writing with Alana and Arista as mini-dolls for the animated movie. For the live-action film, 43225 The Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell includes Indira and Karina as minifigures.

Sebastian and Flounder

While Flounder uses the same piece in the live-action and animated The Little Mermaid models, Sebastian has been relegated to the standard crab element in the 2023 models, rather than his specialised element. Even Sebastian’s DUPLO figure isn’t quite as good as Flounder’s with the character getting a printed brick instead of a specialised piece.
