LEGO clarifies 76249 Venomised Groot instructions are coming after all

The LEGO Group has clarified that the ‘missing’ instructions for this summer’s LEGO Marvel 76249 Venomised Groot are on the way after all.

YouTuber MiniSuperHeroesToday picked up an early copy of August’s 76249 Venomised Groot at a Kohl’s store in the US – and discovered that the instructions for transforming the Guardians of the Galaxy character into his fully-Venomised variant are absent from the box. The only paper instructions demonstrate how to build the half-and-half version pictured on the front of the packaging.

The YouTuber subsequently had to piece together the all-black Venomised Groot using the images on the set’s box, which he described as ‘really annoying’. But that seemingly won’t be the same experience for the majority of builders come August, as the LEGO Group has clarified to Brick Fanatics that the instructions for fully-Venomised Groot will be available in the LEGO Builder app once the set has launched.

The 630-piece set debuts officially on August 1, alongside five other LEGO Marvel sets, so MiniSuperHeroesToday has essentially fallen victim to the perils of buying products before their street date. The good news is that the rest of us will be able to build both models shown on the box without resorting to squinting at the packaging: all you’ll need to do is download the LEGO Builder app, which is free on Android and iOS.

76249 Venomised Groot will be available to buy at LEGO.com, in LEGO Stores and from third-party retailers on August 1, for £46.99 / $49.99 / €52.99.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
