Smyths Toys cancels LEGO DOTS event for Saturday
The UK retailer Smyths Toys has cancelled this Saturday’s LEGO DOTS event due to the coronavirus outbreak.
An interactive LEGO DOTS event was due to take place at Smyths Toys stores this Saturday, but the retailer has cancelled the event. The public is encouraged to avoid unnecessary contact with other people due to the coronavirus outbreak and multiple people handling the same LEGO bricks is presumably not ideal at this time.
A promotion recently launched to coincide with the new LEGO DOTS sets, with 30556 Mini Frame free with purchases totalling £30 or more. The deal stacks with another promotion, with 40370 Train (review) free with orders totalling £99 or more.
The theme is a new entry by the LEGO Group into the arts and craft market, with a mix of brick-built home décor items and wearable bracelets that can be covered with 1×1 LEGO tiles – also known as DOTS. The products were first revealed at a launch event that also saw the opening of the HOUSE OF DOTS, a collaboration between the LEGO Group and artist Camille Walala.
Schools and universities will close in Denmark, the LEGO Group’s home country, as public sector workers in non-critical jobs are sent home, as the country attempts so slow the spread of coronavirus.
