Closer look at the new LEGO Star Wars Ahsoka Tano minifigure

The LEGO Group has finally brought us a new post-Clone Wars Ahsoka Tano minifigure in 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, so here’s a closer look at every aspect of the new variant…

As first glimpsed on the box art for 75357 Ghost & Phantom II, a fresh Ahsoka Tano minifigure is on the way later this year. While a total of three sets are planned for the upcoming Disney+ series, only one will feature the eponymous character herself, which is good news for anyone planning on buying them all: veteran fans will remember the days of countless Jack Sparrows in the Pirates of the Caribbean sets, to point to just one example.

The set in question is 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, which also includes minifigures of Sabine Wren, Professor Huyang and new Inquisitor Marrok. But Ahsoka is easily the star of the show, especially given her only previous incarnation in a post-Clone Wars setting was in 2016’s Star Wars Rebels set 75158 Rebel Combat Frigate – and that minifigure now commands upwards of £200 on the aftermarket.

This newer variant is based on the character’s live-action design in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka rather than her animated design in Star Wars Rebels, so while she’s wearing a similarly grey outfit, there are some pretty major differences between the two minifigures – the most obvious being that she has much shorter lekku in the newer set, reflective of her on-screen design. Ahsoka’s head tails were shortened for live action, with ‘consideration for stunts and movement’, says Lucasfilm character concept designer Brian Matyas.

Beyond that physical change (which incorporates a brand new piece), the new minifigure is way more detailed than its predecessor, boasting not only printed arms – with grey on orange, rather than solid grey – but also foot printing. Her head is double-sided, meanwhile, with both smirking and ferocious expressions, and together all these changes add up to exactly the kind of minifigure you’d expect from LEGO Star Wars in 2023.

There’s one last improvement to the new Ahsoka, though, and it’s long overdue: her lightsaber blades are trans-clear, reusing a piece first introduced in 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block in 2021. That’s a much closer adaptation of the character’s dual white lightsabers than we’ve seen previously, and far more appropriate than the blue blades in 75158 Rebel Combat Frigate.

While there’s plenty more to 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle than just the main character herself – Sabine Wren’s new hairpiece and helmet, Professor Huyang’s new head and Morrok’s helmet and armour, for example (and that’s before we even get to the build itself) – this new Ahsoka minifigure has clearly been worth the wait.

75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle launches September 1, and is available to pre-order now.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
