LEGO builders use bricks to immortalise classic artworks
A group of 21 Polish LEGO fans have recreated famous national artworks using just creativity and bricks.
According to The First News, 400 hours and 158,000 LEGO elements went into recreating a collection of Polish art down to the last detail. Each brick-built build is exactly the same size as the original piece of art.
The models are made in the same fashion as LEGO Art mosaic builds, with studs placed on plated backgrounds to mimic the appearance of canvas paintings. The aim of the collection is to revive classic Polish paintings, with many of the selected pieces first painted in the 1800s.
The largest piece, a recreation of Indian Summer by Józef Chelmonski, is built from 85,000 pieces, with the others all totalling more than 10,000 bricks each. Any mosaic-style builds like these often end up with high stud counts, as we’ve already seen when 31203 World Map overtook 10276 Colosseum as the largest LEGO set ever.
The full collection of brick-built artwork will be on show at Warsaw’s Galeria przy plazy on the Vistula boulevards until 22 August. Visitors to the Polish capital can buy tickets on entry to the gallery, with no need to reserve in advance.
