What should we expect from the rumoured LEGO Avengers Tower minifigure lineup?

Once again, rumours have started flying about a giant LEGO Avengers Tower set – and if the last tall, grey Marvel building is anything to go on, we’re in for a LOT of minifigures.

76269 Avengers Tower, rumoured to be releasing in November at the high price of $524.99, will be the latest in a line of hugely expensive LEGO Marvel display models such as 76210 Hulkbuster. There’s a chance this large building will also be compatible with the modular buildings series, similar to 76178 Daily Bugle and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum. It’s likely at this size and price, there will be lots of minifigures included – maybe even more than the Daily Bugle’s whopping 25.

According to Instagram user 1414falconfan (via reddit user FluffySky6), this set will be based on the tower’s appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, with figures to match – but the source also hinted that the set’s minifigure lineup wouldn’t end there, featuring a lot more than just Age of Ultron characters.

With all that said, let’s consider which minifigures could be included, from most likely to least likely.

The Core Avengers

This one is pretty obvious. If there’s a set this big based on Avengers Tower, the core MCU Avengers should all be included. We’re talking the original six here – the main heroes from the original Avengers film in 2012. Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye are nearly guaranteed inclusions.

The Age of Ultron Recruits

If the set is truly based on Age of Ultron, it makes sense that the new Avengers recruits from that film will be among the minifigure selection. Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Vision should be expected to be represented in this set.

Honorary Avengers from Age of Ultron

There are a few characters in Age of Ultron that aren’t really official members of the Avengers, but are certainly associated with them rather heavily and fight alongside them throughout the movie. We’re talking about Falcon and War Machine, of course.

Ultron and his Drones

What would an Age of Ultron set be without the titular Ultron himself? This Avengers Tower set will surely be based on the scene from the beginning of the film where Ultron, in his first form, attacks the tower. We can most likely expect Ultron in his Iron Legion form as well as his final form, probably alongside one or more Ultron drone figures (who also could appear in Iron Legion armour or their upgraded Ultron armour).

SHIELD Characters

SHIELD is a constant presence in the Avengers films, and Age of Ultron is no different. Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and a large number of SHIELD agents all appear in the film and could also appear in the Avengers Tower set. It’s possible that other SHIELD characters like Agent Coulson or Jasper Sitwell, who aren’t in Age of Ultron, could still show up too.

It’s not too often that LEGO Super Heroes sets include minifigures for the civilian identities of the heroes, but it’s been seen before. Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, and Bruce Banner have appeared in a number of LEGO sets, and 76178 Daily Bugle features Peter Parker. Most of the other Avengers, however, have never appeared in their regular identities and street clothes before.

In Age of Ultron, the party scene leading up to Ultron’s attack features all of the main cast in their regular attire, and they even do battle with Ultron without their superhero costumes. It’s likely we could see any number of civilian identity minifigures, such as Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Clint Barton, Sam Wilson, James Rhodes, Maria Hill, or even… Thor? Thor Odinson? What would you call a minifigure of his civilian identity? Donald Blake?

Other Age of Ultron Characters

There are a few characters from Age of Ultron that could appear as minifigures who don’t fit into other neat categories, such as Doctor Helen Cho, Ulysses Klaue, Peggy Carter, Heimdall, and Erik Selvig.

Other Avengers

Now that we’ve gone through everyone who actually appears in Age of Ultron, we can get into some of the characters who don’t. There have been a number of characters that have joined the MCU’s Avengers since the release of Age of Ultron, and they are definitely the most likely non-Age-of-Ultron minifigures to be included in this set. These Avengers include Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp, Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Shuri, Okoye, Nebula, Rocket Raccoon, and Captain Marvel.

Other Villains

The Avengers and their members have faced a lot of villains throughout the MCU, and it’s likely some of them will appear in this set. It’s most likely that only a few of these characters will be included as minifigures, but there’s a large selection to choose from, like Loki, Thanos, the Black Order, Kang the Conqueror, Zemo, Crossbones, Batroc, Mandarin, Whiplash, Taskmaster, Malekith, Hela, and Abomination, among others.

Supporting Characters

Members of the Avengers have a wide range of supporting characters that could appear as minifigures in Avengers Tower. Pepper Potts, Sharon Carter, Jane Foster, Darcy Lewis, Betty Ross, Everett Ross, T’Chaka, and Luis are among the possibilities.

Stan Lee

Finally, the one everyone has been waiting for. LEGO and Marvel fans have been clamouring for a minifigure representation of real-life comics writer Stan Lee for some time now, especially after his series of cameos in the MCU films. Stan does appear in the Avengers Tower during the party in Age of Ultron, so this set would be the perfect time to finally include him. Fans would finally be able to own a Stan Lee minifigure… for the high price of $524.99. Worth it? We’ll leave that up to you.

As always, especially with Avengers Tower rumours, make sure to take all of this with a grain of salt. For some reason, people love to lie about Avengers Tower leaks.
