LEGO BIONICLE rumoured to come back in 2025

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but LEGO Bionicle is rumoured to come back in 2025 in what could be the latest return for the theme.

Rumours of LEGO BIONICLE’s return have been abundant in recent years, almost as much as the official comebacks from the theme. From the full wave in 2015 to the reference in 2022’s 11021 90 Years of Play and most recently 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua earlier this year, BIONICLE has been back for some time.

However, exabrickslegogo_ on Instagram is reporting that 2025 is to feature the next BIONICLE return though in what form this could be is unclear.

Possible options for this rumoured return include a wave of models similar to 2015, a reference such as 11021 90 Years of Play or a single set akin to 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua.

LEGO rumours for the next year aren’t uncommon, though they should be taken with caution. However, rumours for LEGO sets as far ahead as 2025 are rare and you should consider an extra pinch of salt when reading them just in case.

As most of us probably remember, on the occasion of LEGO’s ninetieth anniversary, a vote was organized to decide on the theme of the set that the company would release on the occasion of its anniversary. Third place was taken by LEGO Pirates. Second place was taken by LEGO Space, on the first place we had BIONICLE, and due to fan’s dissatisfaction with the division of the castle series into several options, LEGO bent its own rules a bit and also pushed the LEGO Castle series onto the podium.
LEGO Castle fans received a huge castle, Space fans received a remake of an old ship and a lot of sets from LEGO City with space motives, as well as recently released space vehicles from LEGO Technic. Fans of Pirate theme until recently had Pirates of the Barracuda Bay sets, and BIONICLE fans received… A set GWP. But since the other series also got their GWP sets, I will assume that the Tahu & Takua set does not count.
The situation described above gives me reason to believe that we will get something related to BIONICLE in 2026, which is the 25th anniversary of the series. Probably a single set, because the series would require the introduction of a lot of new parts, and unfortunately, there are no rumors yet suggesting that LEGO is working on new parts dedicated to technical series. Of course, there is the possibility of BIONICLE sets made of system parts, but I believe that LEGO knows that releasing BIONICLE as a system series would strip it of what made BIONICLE special.
We shall see very soon 🙂

I wished they kept using the old pieces but remodeled more so that they don’t break easily, especially the light green pieces.
