LEGO Disney 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell visual guide and gallery

Continuing the Disney 100th anniversary celebrations, dive into every detail of 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell in our in-depth visual guide and gallery.

LEGO Disney 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell is a gorgeously detailed set for LEGO fans of all ages. Five minifigure mermaids live throughout the colourful clamshell palace, along with various aquatic creature friends of theirs of course. Designed with the live-action characters in mind, Ariel, Ursula, King Triton, Sebastian, Flounder, and Ariel’s sisters Indira and Karina have been created in exquisite detail.

Created for the adult fan, here’s a look at some of our favourite details that we’ve spotted so far, from the top of throne rock to the depths of Ursula’s lair.

LEGO Disney 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell build

The core of the build centres around the colourful clamshell itself, made from white elements that provide the ideal base and backdrop for the colourful marine that lives with the underwater royal family. Part of a shipwreck can be seen poking out from the bottom, giving a sense of the depth of the set – made all too clear by the transition to darker colours at the entrance to Ursala’s laid in the bottom layer of the build. Transparent rods are also used to allow fish, mermaids, and more to ‘swim’ throughout 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell.

No palace would be complete without a princess – and 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell has three, plus a king. Ariel, King Triton, and Ariel’s two sisters, Indira, and Karina have all been captured in colourful detail, with every mermaid getting their own unique tail, in colours that match their clothing and often hair. Ursula herself also has a dramatic tail that reflects her octopus-like nature, as opposed to the fishier tails of the other mermaids. Triton also has his titular accessory (the triton), as well as the crown that befits one of his watery stature.

LEGO Disney 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell details

The longer you look, the more details you can spot in 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell, from the plethora of fish that populate the set to a few knick-knacks emerging from the sinking ship that suggest Ariel’s grotto of curated items is lurking just below the set. Colourful studs and elements are dotted throughout making for a start contrast between the clamshell palace and Ursula’s lair, which transitions to dark green, grey, and black parts instead of the white, pale blue, pinks, and oranges of the rest of the set.

It’s also good to see that both Sebastian and Flounder are included in the line-up, although of course not as minifigures. Despite being of small stature, they are both displayed prominently in the box art for watchful fans to spot.

LEGO Disney 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell new parts

Spekaing of Flounder, we’re pretty sure he’s the result of a new element in his black, white, and yellow form, quite the departure from his blue colours in the animated film and past LEGO appearances. Unlike the rest of the fish in the set, Flounder is complete in his rounded form, ready to puff up at the slightest hint of danger.

All of the mermaid tails also appear to be recoloured elements, with extra detail and flair given to each one than we’ve ever seen before, capturing the individual personalities and colour scheme of each member of the royal family included in this set.

LEGO Disney 43225 Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell will be available to pre-order exclusively from official LEGO Stores and the LEGO website from April 23 for £139.99 / $159.99 / €159.99 and available to buy from May 4.
