LEGO Ideas could spawn an interesting addition to the Botanical Collection
The LEGO Botanical Collection is ever increasing and a fan designer has gained enough support in an idea of their own that it’s now being considered for an actual set.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese art of Ikebana (literally translated to ‘making flowers alive’), fan designer Brickcea has had one of his many botanical-inspired projects grow past the 10,000 supporter mark. Cherry Blossom Ikebana depicts a cherry blossom branch sitting in a brick-built vase, matched with a pair of brown shears, as if the plant was in the midst of being pruned. It also comes with a little sprig that’s just been ‘cut’ off.
“Since I’ve never made it or learned [Ikebana], I decided to make it look like it’s a work in progress, using scissors and a twig,” explained the designer in the description.
Of course, this is just the first step in the journey for Cherry Blossom Ikebana to become a real LEGO Ideas set, being the tenth project to make it past 10k in the first review round of 2024. It’s now up to the LEGO Ideas team to decide which of the following sets will become actual sets, alongside any future submissions to gain 10,000 supporters. Check out a reminder of the sets to make it past the minimum threshold below.
