LEGO Hello Kitty could be coming to LEGO Ideas

One of the most successful fan designers may get a LEGO Ideas Hello Kitty set in the future as a new project enters the first 2024 review.

Bulldoozer is proposing a new partnership between the LEGO Group and Hello Kitty following their success with LEGO Ideas sets including 21324 123 Sesame Street, 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures, 21346 Family Tree and multiple projects currently in review.

The Sanrio character and franchise are especially popular in Japan, where it was devised. Hello Kitty offers a world of cute characters with brightly-coloured builds and adventures, just as Bulldoozer has submitted on the platform. The project aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty in 2024, though any such set based on this submission likely wouldn’t be released for at least a year.

The project proposes four Hello Kitty minifigures with other characters included as printed pieces and builds. Four buildings celebrate the legacy of the franchise while offering places from Sanrio Town. This includes Hello Kitty’s Café, Keroppi’s Mini-Mart, My Melody’s Gift Shop, and Badtz-Maru’s Arcade. Each has a small interior space and they also act as accessories to hold stationery, a phone, spare change and more in a drawer.

The suggested minifigures could be similar to the smaller figures featured in the four LEGO Gabby’s Dollhouse sets, but they’d still require at least a couple of new pieces unless they were entirely brick-built. The LEGO Gabby’s Dollhouse sets include 10785 Bakey with Cakey Fun, 10786 Gabby & MerCat’s Ship & Spa, 10787 Kitty Fairy’s Garden Party and 10788 Gabby’s Dollhouse.

Hello Kitty and Friends – 50 Years has only just reached 10,000 supporters and has not yet been approved at the time of writing. It joins several other projects in the first 2024 LEGO Ideas review, which has in turn only recently begun.

You can take a look at what else could be coming to LEGO Ideas in the future in the following table but in the meantime, you can look forward to 21347 Red London Telephone Box on February 1 for LEGO Insiders and on February 3 for everyone else.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
