LEGO Jurassic World to continue in 2019

Universal has announced that new LEGO Jurassic World products will be released in 2019.

Universal, the studio behind the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchise has confirmed that new LEGO Jurassic World sets will be released this year in an announcement highlighted by the Brick Fan. It is unexpected news, as typically the LEGO Group only focuses on films during the release year.

Before the end of the year, a 22 minute LEGO Jurassic World animated special will launch to support the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on home entertainment formats.

“This momentum, plus much more, is key to the lead up of the third Jurassic World film slated for 2021,” says Hannah Mungo, country director, U.K. and Ireland, Universal Brand Development. “We know that there is a strong appetite for this enduring entertainment brand and we are committed to adding breadth and depth to the franchise, which continues to propel Jurassic World as an always-on franchise.”

While details of next year’s Jurassic World sets are unknown, it could be an opportunity for the LEGO Group to revisit the classic movie – fans have been vocal on platforms such as LEGO Ideas about their appetite for original Jurassic Park icons such as the explorer and gates. With an Ian Malcolm minifigure coming in the Bricktober set and 75932 Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase released earlier this year, it is certainly a possibility.

LEGO Jurassic World sets are available now from shop.LEGO.com.
