LEGO Star Wars 75371 Chewbacca is much worse than you might expect

We really wanted to give LEGO Star Wars 75371 Chewbacca the benefit of the doubt, but the set is much, much worse than expected.

When 75371 Chewbacca was first revealed, the response from the LEGO fan community was mixed to say the least. Complaints referred to the upcoming LEGO Star Wars set as ‘nightmare fuel’ and ‘unsettling,’ with the design of the Wookiee’s face in particular coming in for some real criticism.

With the model now in hand, our very own Matthew has taken a look at 75371 Chewbacca in the video review below, revealing that the model itself is much, much worse in so many ways. For starters, the LEGO Star Wars set just isn’t fun to construct, with most of the build consisting of similar brown, dark brown and black pieces that are a little tricky to tell apart in the included printed instructions.

The super-repetitive nature of the build can therefore potentially result in numerous mistakes being made during the assembly process, making the whole thing very frustrating indeed. In addition, if certain elements don’t line-up just right, then some sections just won’t fit together (we’re looking at your big hairy arms, 75371 Chewbacca). When it comes to the Wookiee’s face, it may be the uncanny valley eyes that throw off the look of the character, but it’s certainly a major issue with the model.
