LEGOLAND Windsor Resorts submits new plans for The LEGO Movie World
Planning application hold-ups mean that the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is re-thinking how The LEGO Movie World will be reintroduced.
Merlin Entertainments has submitted a new planning application for the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, seeking to re-theme the existing Adventure Land as The LEGO Movie World, introducing two new rides while re-themeing an existing one. The aim is to open the new area in 2021, which would follow the opening of Billund’s version next year. Earlier this year, the first version of the film inspired land opened in Florida.
Over a year ago, a planning application was approved that would see the size of the theme park increase to accomodate new lodgings as well as The LEGO Movie World. According to the new planning application, the length of time that approval took to come through meant that The LEGO Movie World had to be re-imagined in order to have it open in time for the 2021 season.
Brick Fanatics reader James shared a link to South Parks, with the website revealing a series of images that show how the new land will replace Adventure Land. The SQUID Surfer ride and Harbourside Fish & Chips eatery will both be re-themed, while a new building will be constructed that will house The LEGO Movie Masters of Flight attraction. Unikitty’s Disco Drop will also be constructed in the area.
It was recently announced that the LEGO Group’s owning family is going buy back the LEGOLAND theme parks with the support of two private capital firms.
LEGOLAND Windsor Resort tickets and hotel stays can be booked at the official website.
