Official images of LEGO Harry Potter 40289 Diagon Alley unveiled

Official images for LEGO Harry Potter 40289 Diagon Alley, the microscale companion to 71043 Hogwarts Castle, have been discovered on’s online servers by Hoth Bricks.

The 374-piece model assembles into a street of Diagon Alley facades, including Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, Gringotts Bank, Quality Quidditch Supplies, Flourish and Blotts and Ollivander’s wand shop. There’s also a minifigure version of Ollivander included, which means character collectors won’t be able to pass this up.

There’s still no concrete word on how 40289 will be available, however, outside of being an upcoming gift with purchase in Chinese LEGO stores. It was briefly available to buy outright for around €40 (£35, $45) in a Certified LEGO Store in Slovenia in August, suggesting it could go on general sale. More likely, it’ll be available as a promotional item with qualifying spend at some point in the near future.

If that is the case, it won’t be in November, at least according to the already-revealed store calendars. Of course, there’s nothing stopping it from being a surprise, last-minute promo. Just don’t hold your breath.

In the meantime, you can get your hands on the rest of the Wizarding World range from right now, including 71043 Hogwarts Castle. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released in cinemas on November 16.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
