LEGO Botanical Collection dates are the latest romantic TikTok trend
More and more people on TikTok are documenting the rising trend of going on LEGO dates.
With adults becoming a more significant part of the toy market in general, it’s certainly been an active decision from the LEGO Group to target adult fans as well as young ones. The number of LEGO sets designed specifically for adults recently exceeded 130, highlighting the push to capture the older market.
From what we can see on TikTok, it’s working. A rising trend has seen young adults go on so-called LEGO dates, where a couple will buy a set to do together or even two sets for them to build at the same time. One such participant in the trend was ashleyinterr0, who took part using 10280 Flower Bouquet and 76209 Thor’s Hammer. Both of these are targeted at those aged 18 and over.

However, Ashley and her partner are not alone in their date night idea. The hashtag, #LEGODates, has gathered over 21 million views on the app, highlighting a rising trend of LEGO-based date nights. What’s more, the LEGO Group’s Botanical Collection features heavily, with people buying their significant others brick-built flowers instead of real ones for a bit of romance.
The growing romantic trend suggests that the LEGO Group’s push to appeal to adult builders is going well. What’s more, with two new Botanical sets on their way in 2023, it seems to be showing no sign of slowing down.
