A hat, a poster and a bauble – reviewing some LEGO Insiders rewards

What does a hat, a Halloween-themed poster and a Christmas bauble have in common? They are all LEGO Insiders rewards currently or soon-to-be available.

The LEGO Group has very kindly sent across a handful of rewards that are right now (or very soon) available to redeem via the Insiders rewards centre at LEGO.com. Insiders is the renamed VIP program that you can sign up for free of charge to receive points on every purchase you make at LEGO.com or in LEGO stores. Those points accumulate (quicker than you’d care to think how) and can be used for money off vouchers or to redeem unique rewards like these three items.

The Classic Space-themed hat pictured here was first made available via the LEGO Insiders rewards centre back in April 2022 when under the LEGO VIP moniker, and its label bares evidence to this. It is currently still available to be redeemed for 2,400 points, which is the number of points awarded after spending £300 and is the same amount of points you could use to redeem a £15 money off voucher at the rewards centre.

The cap is part of a mini-series that also includes an Octan-branded red version and kids-sized minifigure-branded yellow version. There’s also a more recent Blacktron cap that is stylistically a little different but could arguably be considered part of the collection. The Classic Space cap is a tight fit without a bit of adjustment but is well made and for the right AFOL perhaps it’s the final piece to complete their all-LEGO wardrobe. Don’t buy it expecting to look cool, mind, and honestly for that number of points there are probably wiser options to spend your points on.

Meanwhile, also currently available at the reward centre are some Halloween-themed movie-style posters and the example we have been sent is actually quite excellent. Although (as is the case with most LEGO posters) it does come in on the small side, this artwork is nicely done, cleverly designed and printed on thicker, embossed paper for a real quality touch. Even so, requiring £12 worth of points (1,750 points) to redeem it is also a little steep (that is, you could use the same points total to redeem a £12 money off voucher from the rewards centre) – that’s a spend of over £200 to have accumulated that many points in the first place, and there are plenty of LEGO set GWPs of late for Insiders that have been available for around that spend or less. There is one thing that may change your mind, though – it glows in the dark.

Finally, is the Christmas bauble, which is a metal, printed design with a neat bow on top to attach it to a Christmas tree. It’s nicely designed for a more subtle, adult aesthetic and indeed it’s not obviously LEGO at all. There are 100 different ways that we could get a LEGO bauble, and this feels like the most sensible, safe way. Not bad, but for requiring a spend of 1,800 points (again just over £12 of points), some may have been hoping for something even more LEGO-y. This will be available at the Insiders reward centre from November 18.

Sign up to the Insiders program today to start accumulating points on every LEGO.com and LEGO store purchase you make and head over to the rewards centre to redeem those points for such items as above, or money off vouchers.
