LEGO Ideas 21329 Fender Stratocaster designer video now available

The LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster designer video is discussing the development of the musical model and how the iconic shape was recreated.

Starting off the latest LEGO designer video is a short explanation of how Ideas 21329 Fender Stratocaster came to be, with the process differing slightly from that of other models in the theme thanks to the Music to our Ears contest and its winner, Tomáš Letanay.

The build features a few non-LEGO elements to keep the feel of the miniature guitar as authentic as possible, including a new and exclusive strap fabric material. Notably, this strap required research into the various official designs from Fender and a mood board to get the look just right.

One challenging aspect of the model during development that is mentioned by designers Marin Stipkovic and Ricardo Dias was translating the shape and scale into 21329 Fender Stratocaster.

“Because we needed to fit six strings into a two stud wide fretboard, we needed a very specific way to offset them evenly, and the one by four gear rack gave us exactly that, except we had to offset that by a stud.” said Marin Stipkovic.
