Is a LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigures series coming next year?

Rumours and speculation are swirling around the internet that a LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigures series could be on the way in 2022.

Just like the rumoured Marvel-themed Collectible Minifigures series reportedly coming this summer, the alleged Star Wars line-up would focus on Disney+ TV shows, including The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi. But where does this dream fall on that fine line between rumour and speculation?

According to Instagram user lego_club_news, it’s all just a theory at the moment, with no real grounding from any of the usually reliable sources. In a recent post, they noted that it is very early to have information regarding 2022 sets (although word of a second Infinity Saga wave has already arrived online), and that this story is likely based on the rumoured Marvel Collectible Minifigures series.

They do note, however, that the very existence of that series – should it turn out to be true – does lend some credence to the theory. But rumours that it’s coming in January are apparently more likely to be false, given a May launch would make more sense (because, well, May the Fourth), while lego_club_news also believes the LEGO Group would wait until all four series have aired to avoid spoilers.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor are both currently on the slate for 2022, but that’s as specific as their release windows get at the moment. Whether we see a LEGO Star Wars Collectible Minifigures series in May 2022 could also heavily depend, therefore, on when exactly both those shows hit Disney+.

For now, lego_club_news stresses that ‘nothing is confirmed’, but speculation around a future Star Wars-themed Collectible Minifigures series ‘is very likely to be true’. We’ll keep you updated if and when we hear anything more concrete.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
