Red Dwarf returns to LEGO Ideas with a new project at 10K supporters

The second 2023 LEGO Ideas review expands once again with a Red Dwarf project from Sebastian Veselka.

This isn’t the first time that the long-running British sci-fi show has been represented on LEGO Ideas – Red Dwarf Starbug by Bob Turner even made it to the 10K supporter mark in 2020 but wasn’t approved in the review phase. British television series have never had the best luck in LEGO Ideas reviews, with one exception in the form of 21304 Doctor Who (but that show has significant international appeal).

Here’s hoping this time is different. Veselka, who goes by the username BRO3, has submitted to several LEGO Ideas contests in the past, but this is their first project to reach the 10K milestone, meaning there’s a chance Red Dwarf could become a real LEGO set soon.

Veselka’s model is made of 1,953 pieces and includes five minifigures. The build for the sleeping quarters is inspired by the sitcom sets that have already been produced by LEGO Ideas (which, as Veselka points out, have only been American shows). 

The set is packed with tons of tiny references and details, which fans of the show can go check out in the original post.

This fan-designed model brings the LEGO Ideas second 2023 review project count up to 15. If the last few Ideas reviews are anything to go on, that means we’re still in for a lot more projects, so stay on the lookout!

The latest fan-made model to make it through to the second 2023 LEGO Ideas review means there are now 14 builds battling it out to become physical sets at some point in the future.
