Retiring LEGO Batman set returns to the online store

As we inch ever closer to its planned retirement, LEGO Batman 76139 1989 Batmobile is once again back in stock at LEGO.com in the UK and Europe.

The 3,306-piece ode to Tim Burton’s Batman movies (and the designs of Julian Caldow) has been absent from the online store since last weekend, but before that spent an entire month out of stock – meaning it’s been pretty hard to come by in recent weeks.

If you’ve been hoping to snag this one before it retires, you may want to whip out the Bat-credit card as soon as possible, because according to Brick Fanatics’ sources, it’s due to leave shelves by the end of December. That’s presumably to facilitate the imminent arrival of 76240 Batmobile Tumbler (how many Batmobiles can one shelf support?), which is set to launch on November 1.

You’ll need to part with £219.99 / $249.99 / €249.99 to bring it home (it’s also available now in the US), and buying right now will also qualify your order for 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute in the UK and Europe, or 40487 Sailboat Adventure in the US.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
