Six fully-gold characters have already arrived on shelves across the summer wave, including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Professor Snape, Professor Quirrell and Lord Voldemort. Notably absent from that line-up is Albus Dumbledore – but the LEGO Group has now come good on Hogwarts’ headmaster in its new collection of buildable Wizarding World objects.
Professor Dumbledore isn’t the only golden minifigure included in 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition, however: a trio of characters are actually bundled in with the 3,010-piece model, including two more stalwarts of the wizarding school. Professor McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid probably weren’t high on anyone’s list of 20th anniversary minifigures, but nobody will be complaining about getting them.
Perhaps the only complaint that could be levelled at this trio is that they’re walled off behind the most expensive set of the LEGO Harry Potter 2021 range. (The LEGO Star Wars team’s recent views on desirable characters clearly aren’t shared across the entire company.)
Like the rest of the golden minifigures, Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid all use modern minifigure designs rather than the classic prints and elements of the 2001 range, in contrast to LEGO Star Wars’ retro 20th anniversary minifigures from 2019. Each one comes with an appropriately-golden 4×3 base, and they can all be displayed on a Chocolate Frog-style stand.
