Six princes and princesses we want to see in LEGO 43222 Disney Castle 

has been rumoured to include many prince and princess minifigures, and we already know which pairs we’re hoping to see.

With the initial rumour from 1414falcon fan on Instagram having had some time to settle, it looks increasingly likely that

is set up to be the successor to the 2016 set, .

While that only came with five minifigures (seven if you include the two

Castle knights), will reportedly come with ‘a variety of princes and princesses’, which has definitely raised our expectations. Here’s a look at five minifigure pairings that we’d like to see.

6 – Megara and Hercules

Particularly as we had a Hercules in the

Collectables Series 2 range, a Megara minifigure to match seems like it would be a sensible decision. The currently made Hercules came with both a sword, cape, and shield, and while a Megara figure may not necessarily need that many accessories, there is certainly a lot of potential.

5 – Esmeralda and Phoebus/Quasimodo

Perhaps one of the least expected picks from this list, Esmeralda was in fact an official

princess right up until 2004, where she and Tinker Bell were apparently removed from the line-up due to disappointing sales. Despite this, Tinker Bell was one of the few minifigures included in . We think that Esmeralda would be an excellent addition to , along with perhaps Phoebus or even main character Quasimodo as a nod to the 1996 film.

While it’s been said that Esmeralda being dropped from the official

Princesses list was due to the film being more mature than its contemporaries, we know that the new castle is likely to be an 18+ set, so this should no longer be a problem.

4 – Flynn Rider and Rapunzel

The minidoll of Flynn Rider has only been seen twice, first in 2014 with 41054 Rapunzel’s Creativity Tower and then again in 2020 with 43187 Rapunzel’s Tower. However, we’ve never had an actual minifigure version of the character. Rapunzel, on the other hand, has been represented many times in minidoll form, for the first time in 2014 all the way up to her most recent appearance in

.

However, like Flynn (or Eugene, whichever you prefer) she has also never been represented in minifigure form, and now may finally be the time to give them both actual minifigures.

3 – Anastasia and Dimitri

Perhaps not one of the most well-marketed princesses, the film of Anastasia came out in 1997, and seems to have had very little attention since. While the film was made by 20th Century Fox,

have since acquired the rights to it and the film is available to watch on +. 

This seems to beg the question as to whether Anastasia and Dimitri could technically be considered a

princess and prince, and seeing them in would definitely put all of those questions to rest.

2 – Naveen and Tiana

We first saw Tiana in

, Aurora, and Tiana’s Royal Celebration (albeit with what a lot of fans considered to be a far too light skin-tone for the character) and there have been several minidoll Tianas since then. 

However, we’re getting the first Tiana minifigure with

100, as well as Dr. Facilier, so having Naveen available in seems to make perfect sense, especially as we’ve never seen him in minifigure or minidoll form.

1 – Li Shang and Mulan

Like with Naveen, we have never had a Li Shang

minifigure or indeed even a minidoll. So far, the most we’ve gotten was a microdoll from the 5+ set 43174 Mulan’s Storybook Adventures from 2020, and as you’d maybe expect there’s very little accuracy compared to the Li Shang most of us would recognise. 

Given that the original animated

film came out in 1998, we think that a minifigure is long overdue. Adding that to the fact that we’re getting the first ever Mulan minifigure with 100, it only makes sense to have Li Shang there as well. 

Again, as always,

is still a rumour for now and hasn’t been confirmed by the Group, so remember to take this with a pinch of salt.
