The LEGO Classic Space VIP Collectible Coin is selling for unbelievable money on eBay

If you fancy trading substantial amounts of real coins for one with a shiny Classic Space emblem, the latest LEGO VIP Collectible Coin is already selling for insane money on eBay.

The fourth coin in the series popped up in the VIP Rewards Centre for approximately 30 minutes this morning, before selling out pretty much straight away. And just like its predecessors, it’s already doing the rounds on eBay – but where demand for those coins has cooled off considerably, the Classic Space memento is commanding an incredibly high price.

For instance, one ‘Buy it Now’ auction was snapped up within four hours of going live for the princely sum of £99. That all happened between the hours of 1am and 5am, when most of us were still asleep – suggesting the coin actually did appear in the VIP Rewards Centre during the night, before being removed altogether (then coming back and selling out. Try to keep up).

Another coin sold for £84.95, while two more sellers accepted best offers after initially listing their coins for £79.99 apiece. That’s basically half your money back on this morning’s headline release, 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery.

It’s worth remembering that none of these sellers have the coin in hand at the moment, and the eBay auctions are all for pre-orders only. Given the LEGO Group’s propensity for sending out the wrong coin, snapping up any of these auctions before the VIP reward has actually arrived with the original buyer could be risky.

As it stands, though, it’s your only way to (hopefully) get your hands on the Classic Space coin.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
