A quick review of every 2024 LEGO City Fire Department set

LEGO City is returning to the adventures of the Fire Department in 2024, so let’s take a quick review of every set about to launch.

Alongside a stellar line-up of Space sets, City is also releasing a range of Fire Department-themed sets. Geared towards younger builders as they enter into the LEGO hobby, these builds are notably more basic, but still each have points of interest to them. Most notable too is 60414 Fire Station with Fire Truck, offering up a very unusual and new design for the department’s main hub.

The LEGO City Fire Department sets are available from LEGO.com on January 1, 2024 and can be viewed at LEGO.com now.

60410 Fire Rescue Motorcycle

Price: £8.99 / $9.99 / €9.99 Pieces: 57 Minifigures: 2

60410 Fire Rescue Motorcycle offers a 4+ building experience for first-time builders graduating from DUPLO and is a quick and easy set to put together. For young hands it’s very playable, for older fans, the burnt hot dog is pretty amusing, even if the rest of the set isn’t really of too much interest. Perhaps the large motorcycle parts could be used for something sci-fi based elsewhere?

60411 Fire Rescue Helicopter

Price: £8.99 / $9.99 / €9.99 Pieces: 85 Minifigures: 1

60411 Fire Rescue Helicopter is another quick and easy build, upping the difficulty ever so slightly for a reasonably-sized and nicely-shaped helicopter. This is a vehicle we have seen many times before and will continue to see again and again for being simple, interesting and very playable LEGO sets – for better and worse 60411 Fire Rescue Helicopter changes nothing to the formula.

60412 4×4 Fire Truck with Rescue Boat

Price: £24.99 / $34.99 / €29.99 Pieces: 301 Minifigures: 3

60412 4×4 Fire Truck with Rescue Boat is where things get interesting, if a little comical. An unfortunate camper has set his egg on fire and it’s spread across his riverside campsite and, despite being that close to water, the Fire Department are on hand to despatch a 4×4 and dinghy. The terrified face of the camper might be at the aggressive nature of the response from LEGO City’s bravest.

As a set there’s a unique story going on and a far more substantial build, all fairly priced too. If you want something different and affordable from LEGO City Fire, this is it.

60413 Fire Rescue Plane

Price: £54.99 / $54.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 478 Minifigures: 3

60413 Fire Rescue Plane isn’t a bad set per se, offering up a larger and nicely-themed Fire Department set geared around treating a forest fire with some well-timed and play-orientated fly-bys. Yet, for the price the build is far simpler and more dull than expected and the end product doesn’t feel as playable as something for this price could be.

60414 Fire Station with Fire Truck

Price: £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 Pieces: 843 Minifigures: 5, plus 1 dog

60414 Fire Station with Fire Truck is by far the most interesting LEGO City Fire Department set launching in January 2024, thanks to a modern twist on the traditional two-door station that the LEGO Group has offered over the years. It’s an interesting build that creates an interesting model that looks good and is very playable. It’s not perfect, particularly for how the fire engine does not fit inside the station, and the drone feels silly to require a helipad, but overall this is a unique and new style of fire station, plus the minifigures are great for introducing some real character and variety to the line-up, and the dog is the best thing.
