76252 Batcave – Shadow Box is expensive and repetitive – but ultimately still cool

LEGO fans have some contrasting opinions about 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box but one thing most can agree on is that it’s undoubtedly a nifty idea.

Since the official reveal of LEGO Batman 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box, there’s been a lot to unpack. From the curious lack of a few key characters to a flurry of details and references that we’re sure not caught all of yet, the LEGO designers have packed a lot into its 3,981 piece count.

Naturally, LEGO fans have had a lot to say about the reveal, beginning with general giddy excitement from those who simply want more brick-built Batman products.

Others noted the 1992 inspiration for the set, highlighting the impressive feat that Batman Returns is still inspiring new creations and merch decades after its release.

Another Twitter user was inspired to create something of their own, building a LEGO model of one of the set’s press images.

While many of the responses were positive, others did point out that the unique display option seemingly adds a lot to the piece count and price – without adding a whole lot more detail or real value.

Despite recent smaller sets dipping into Batman comic looks, one Twitter user saw this as a missed opportunity to get more comic references and styles in a larger set.

Perhaps all of these contentious issues can be neatly summed up here.
