LEGO Ideas Samurai Castle gives NINJAGO competition

Three months after its submission, a detailed samurai castle has reached the second 2025 LEGO Ideas review, giving NINJAGO a run for its money.

Distracted Builder‘s Samurai Castle project has finally reached 10,000 supporters after a final rush of support, reaching the second 2025 review accordingly. Their build is intended to be a tribute to the classic Ninja theme from 1999, depicting a castle with distinct Japanese architecture that is made up of eight sections.

These include a tower with a forge and living quarters, as well as a keep with an archery range, jail cell and kitchen. It’s a highly detailed build with full interiors that would work well within the LEGO Ideas portfolio in the same vein as 21343 Viking Village.

There’s one small caveat though, this project might conflict with the aesthetics of LEGO NINJAGO, which has been exploring similarly detailed buildings for quite a while. That’s not to say there’s no room for a historically-accurate model alongside NINJAGO on shelves, but it’s likely something the LEGO Group will have to consider behind closed doors.

It’s only taken just under three months for this build to reach 10,000 supporters, and now it has a genuine chance of getting a tribute LEGO set as part of the second 2025 review.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
