Fully-functional modular fairground has promise on LEGO Ideas

The latest modular set pitched for LEGO Ideas takes motorisation to another level with a fully-functional fairground activated with one lever.

Baron von Barron’s latest motorised model, proposed for a future LEGO Ideas set, consists of an impressively complicated fairground creation that pushes Powered UP pieces to their limits. After a string of rejected projects all featuring motorisation, Baron von Barron isn’t giving up. Considering the success of 21335 Motorised Lighthouse, there might still be a chance for the budding fan designer.

The 3,000-piece modular fairground might have to eschew its modularity should it be picked for an official set, similar to 21353 The Botanical Garden, but there’s no denying the thought that has gone into this pitch, with Technic elements reaching every ride in the build to make them move realistically.

A set of five labelled levers at the back of the build allow you to operate the free fall tower, the Ferris wheel, the can-throwing game, the cotton candy stand and the carousel. Whether all of the rides can be operated at the same time has not been confirmed, though it would likely put strain on the Powered UP motor.

While we wait to see whether or not the impressive motorised model gets an official LEGO Ideas set, the project joins 13 other models in the second 2025 review.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
