LEGO Ideas sends another music-themed design rocking past 10K
Joining the likes of Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, BTS, and many more, another band-themed LEGO Ideas submission has gained 10,000 supporters.
The latest in a long line of music-themed LEGO Ideas projects to get past 10,000 supporters is Metallica M72 World Tour, designed y the aptly-named fan designer MetalliBrick. The set depicts the four of the band members of Metallica in minifigure form: Lars Ulrich (drums, 1981 founding member), James Hetfield (vocals & rhythm guitar, 1981 founding member), Kirk Hammett (lead guitar, 1983), and Robert Trujillo (bass guitar, 2003). The LEGO band take to a brick-built green, yellow, and black stage, with towering lights and ‘screens’ to show off the performance.
As the fan designer points out, founding member Lars Ulrich shares being “arguably Denmark’s two most famous exports” with LEGO itself, so it would certainly be a well-aligned partnership, if the LEGO Ideas team chose to take this set further.
There is a total of 2,972 parts in Metallica M72 World Tour, broken down on the submission page by each part of the set. This includes instruments for each of the band members, as well as accessories to complete the show.
Of course, the final fate of Metallica M72 World Tour now lies in the hands of the LEGO Ideas team. Here’s a reminder of the other 14 (so far) sets that it will be going up against.
