LEGO Ideas submission features local take on modular building

This brick-built jungle where dreams are made of has just made it past 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas.

While most LEGO Modular Buildings could theoretically be anywhere, with colourful facades and general buildings, the latest LEGO Ideas design to reach 10,000 votes is a little slice of life straight out of New York. From a red and yellow hotdog stand to a Bugsy Malone-style bar and pool room, the red brick buildings of New York Corner all scream of classic New Yorker architecture.

Designed by Bricky_Brick, aka Pablo, the building's facades include references to the Blues, as well as what appear to be shotguns and a medley of singers gathering on the roof. It's certainly an eclectic bunch that has gathered on this autumnal city street corner.

As with official Modular Buildings, there's a story to be told through the minifigures and accessories dotted throughout the build.

"If you come to the neighborhood, visiting Alfred Axle can be a good start, he can recommend a good apartment in the city," explains Pablo. "Miranda found a small place for her therapies and when she can rest she goes down to eat the hot dogs that Yolanda serves at her food stand, Yolanda is a music fan , and tonight there is a concert."

New York Corner joins 36 other LEGO Ideas projects to gain 10,000 votes, becoming the 37th set in the second review of 2023. The fate of the all of these sets now lies in the hands of the LEGO Ideas review panel. Here's a reminder of New York Corner's competition.
