Toys R Us announces return to the UK in 2022

Three and a half years after closing its retail stores, Toys R Us has announced it’s returning to the UK in 2022.

Once a mainstay of UK high street retail, Toys R Us today revealed that it would be returning to these shores next year. Toys R Us has announced it has signed a ‘long-term exclusive licence agreement for Toys R US ANZ to run digital and physical retail commerce for Toys R Us and Babies R Us in the United Kingdom.’

Toys R Us is already planning to make a comeback in the US next year, with 400 new shops opening in Macy’s department stores across the States. In addition, Toys R Us stores in Singapore and Hong Kong have remained open, recently offering LEGO fans a number of exclusive Bricktober sets.

“Toys R Us today is a vibrant business with over 900 stores and e-commerce sites across 25+ countries generating over $2 billion a year in sales and growing,” said Yehuda Shmidman, Chairman and CEO of parent company WHP Global and Toys R Us, “especially with the new launches underway for both the US and UK markets.”
