LEGO Ideas may be home to more tribute sets in the future

Ask for one LEGO Ideas tribute set and you might get two as the latest model to reach 10K on the platform pays homage to an animal expert.

Coming from the aptly named King of Crocs, their only project on LEGO Ideas has hit 10,000 supporters, passing a Steve Irwin tribute model in the third 2023 LEGO Ideas review.

It features a brick-built crocodile based on an Australian Saltwater Crocodile, a display stand with its scientific name as well as a smaller display stand for a proposed Steve Irwin minifigure and miniature crocodile. The smaller display stand can separate from the larger model and stand to the side on its own.

From its design, this would fit well as the latest LEGO tribute model, with past sets paying homage to Galileo Galilei, Amelia Earhart and Jane Goodall but be a far different take on the LEGO collection.

LEGO Ideas is already home to one Tribute model following the release of the 40595 Tribute to Galileo Galilei gift-with-purchase earlier this year. That set came from a LEGO Ideas contest though, not one of the many review rounds.

The Steve Irwin tribute project now proceeds to the next stage of the third 2023 LEGO Ideas review, where a panel of judges will determine which submissions are suitable for sets before announcing the results. The third 2023 LEGO Ideas round is ongoing, with 24 projects so far.
