LEGO Ideas spirits up My Neighbor Totoro for the second review of 2025

A new LEGO Ideas submission based on a fan-favourite Studio Ghibli film has entered the second review of 2025 in the shape of My Neighbor Totoro.

Successful fan-designed LEGO Ideas creations making their way into the second review of 2025 have slowed to a trickle recently, a trend that continues today. My Neighbor Totoro has finally hit the hallowed 10K supporters mark, having been hovering around that number for some time now.

The work of Brickasso99031, My Neighbor Totoro is based on the fan-favourite Studio Ghibli movie of the same name that was released in 1988. Written and directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, the animated film tells the story of two young girls stepping into the world of friendly wood spirits in Japan.

LEGO Ideas My Neighbor Totoro 1

When it comes to the LEGO Ideas model, My Neighbor Totoro presents a basic brick-built version of the main animal character, one predominantly assembled from a variety of grey and tan elements, plus a purple-topped umbrella.

Also included with the submission are a blue and a white brick-built Totoro, with all three spirits sitting together on a custom display stand. A simple bus stop has been placed on one side of the model and there are various plant-based pieces dotted around too.

My Neighbor Totoro is just the latest in a long line of LEGO Ideas designs based on the Studio Ghibli classic that have managed to hit the LEGO Ideas 10K mark to date. We’ll have to wait until later this year to see if this new version manages to make it any further in the judging process.
