LEGO Ideas train station is possible following BrickLink success

A grand LEGO Ideas train station has pulled into a review round again, following other successful detailed models of modular train stations.

Maria Kalaoglou is back in a LEGO Ideas review after an initial attempt in 2023, and after the launch of their first successful fan-designed set. The LEGOLAND Central Station has been renamed to the Grand Central Station and it’s now in the first 2025 review with 10,000 users showing their support for this potential official model.

The train station is still the result of a joint partnership between Maria and patgeo, using a vast swathe of elements to depict a classic-styled train station with one platform, a canopy, ticket office and more services for minifigures to use.

The model is designed to be modular but sits on a base that measures 48 studs and 40 studs deep, including the track.. That’s wide than the likes of 910034 Brick Cross from the BrickLink Designer Program. Maria thankfully has some experience from the BrickLink Designer Program to bolster her chances in the current LEGO Ideas review round – she’s the fan designer behind 910033 Old Train Engine Shed.

With Grand Central Station back with a chance at getting a LEGO Ideas set, it’s competing against 14 other projects in the first 2025 review currently, ranging from Power Rangers to Gilmore Girls. Modular submissions have not had much success on LEGO Ideas in the past, but there’s evidently some demand for modular train stations throughout the community.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
