What if LEGO Ideas 21342 The Insect Collection had frogs?

Things are getting froggy on LEGO Ideas as a project offering a unique take on 21342 The Insect Collection could be the next set in the theme.

Pack a poncho for the latest LEGO Ideas project to reach 10,000 supporters. The third 2023 review round now includes Mario Vela’s Rainforest Frogs. This proposed model would be right at home in the LEGO Botanical Collection with its giant flora model. However, the fauna is the focus here as six colourful frogs are dotted around the build.

The species include a Red Eye Frog, a Sylvyas Leaf Frog, a Golden Poison Dart Frog, a Blue Jeans Frog, a Blue Dart Frog and a Masked Tree Frog. Those not familiar with the various species of frogs should at least be able to identify a few of their models by the colours alone.

While this project could be a model similar to the LEGO Botanical Collection builds via the importance of its plant builds, it might make more sense to take inspiration from 21342 The Insect Collection.

The official LEGO Ideas is inspired by a project with a similar concept and shows that there is precedent for such a model. However, that doesn’t necessarily increase the chances this submission has of getting a LEGO Ideas set in the future.

This is the 23rd project in the third 2023 LEGO Ideas review with just over a month left in the year.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
