Amethyst Geode is the latest fan-made LEGO Ideas design to hit 10K

The latest fan-made LEGO Ideas design to achieve 10,000 supporters is Amethyst Geode, featuring a quartz crystal-based creation.

Submissions for the first LEGO Ideas review of 2023 continue to arrive, with multiple fan builds being added on a regular basis. The latest design comes courtesy of gman13579 and features a unique brick-built take on the popular hobby of rock collecting.

Amethyst Geode showcases a large, grey, egg-shaped rock that’s hinged and opens up to reveal its impressive purple crystalline interior. The build apparently took the designer many months to crack, with the curvature of the model proving to be particularly challenging. The 2,854-piece creation includes 950 1×1 transparent purple elements and comes with a brick-built pick to complete the overall look of the set. The appearance of Amethyst Geode is somewhat reminiscent of a similar mineral-based design that was submitted last year, although that model ultimately failed to become a physical LEGO set.

The latest LEGO Ideas submission to achieve 10,000 supporters now takes the list of designs in the first 2023 review up to 35. A decision on which creations will make it through to the next stage of the process is likely to take place sometime in October.
