The qualifying period for LEGO Ideas’ second 2023 review has wrapped up, with a total of 49 different projects making the cut – the fourth-highest of any single review so far.
That number is bested only by the second 2022 review (51 projects), first 2021 review (57 projects) and the first 2023 review, which still holds the record at an incredible 71 projects in a single round. Forty-nine builds is nothing to sniff at, though – just ask the LEGO Ideas review board now responsible for sifting through them all – and represents a significant achievement for each of the designers who successfully reached 10,000 votes between May and September 2023.
The LEGO Ideas team must now decide whether to take any of these 49 different projects to the next stage, which is transforming them into an official product ready to be sold en masse. In the mix this time are the usual assortment of vehicles, modular buildings and licensed projects, as well as original designs such as a working gumball machine and a vintage toaster.
The full list also includes no fewer than five different projects inspired by Taylor Swift, with four all modelled on the same Lover House from one of the star’s biggest music videos. (The other recreates Swift’s stage setup for her Eras tour.) If there’s one sure thing in this review, it has to be a Taylor Swift set… at least if the LEGO Group can make the licensing work. The audience is primed and waiting.

The results of the first 2023 review should be announced within the next two months (based on previous years).
