LEGO Ideas Portal project gets another chance at a set
Some franchises from LEGO Dimensions could return as a LEGO Ideas set thanks to a challenge and another property may have a similar chance.
The likes of Beetlejuice, Gremlins, The Goonies and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial could be getting a LEGO Ideas set thanks to the ’80s IP challenge and now, Portal 2 could be brought back to the world of LEGO thanks to a LEGO Ideas project. A Portal 2 project has just reached 10,000 supporters, again, giving the game franchise another chance at a second LEGO model.
Hooded-Blaze’s Portal 2 Quantum Tunnelling Device. The “Portal Gun” recreates the iconic tool featured in both titles of the Portal franchise with builds to switch from blue to orange energy, creating the appropriate-coloured portals.
In-game, these portals can be placed on select surfaces to solve puzzles and occasionally battle robots. The device has had a single LEGO depiction before as an accessory exclusively featured in 71203 Portal 2 Level Pack from 2015.
Should this get a full set, we likely can’t expect the Chell minifigure or Portal Gun piece to return as part of this possible model as the mould has likely been retired for at least a few years.
For now, Hooded-Blaze’s project joins 41 other submissions in the first 2024 LEGO Ideas review.

- LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
