LEGO Ideas project heads to the junkyard in more ways than one

LEGO Ideas’ latest project to reach the first 2025 review may not have much luck, heading to the junkyard in at least two ways.

The first 2025 review has just expanded with a working junkyard model complete with a magnet-infused crane using an old element. This build comes from LEGOParadise and this would be their first project to become a set should it be successful, but far from their first to reach 10,000 supporters.

The sizable junkyard build includes all kinds of ruined vehicles, some of which have interior spaces, a garage to the side and a working crane in the centre. The building techniques on display are impressive and while many retired parts are used, only one would be a major problem.

The magnet piece used for the crane only appears in retired 2020 City sets and has not appeared since. There are no other magnet-infused elements outside of LEGO trains and the actual magnet merchandise, putting the proposed main feature of the model in an awkward position.

LEGO City 60472 Scrapyard with Cars 1024x1024

Considering that LEGO City recently debuted 60472 Scrapyard with Cars too, this proposed model may not have much luck in the forthcoming review round. Still, it has been accepted at the time of writing and is the 21st entry into the growing first 2025 review. It’s an undoubtedly impressive set that even manages to sneak in a reference to the Disney Pixar Cars movie.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
