Motorised Steampunk set would be familar for LEGO Ideas

A new steampunk project in the second 2025 LEGO Ideas review presents an unfamiliar topic, but with some familiar functionality for the theme.

Liam Paradise recently earned a spot in the second 2025 LEGO Ideas review with their impressive motorised steampunk airship model, depicting a genre-specific vehicle which has become common on LEGO Ideas. What makes this depiction of an airship different, though, is the built-in motorisation.

A single motor and battery box inside the main balloon allow various aspects of the huge airship to turn, pump and move in an impressive spectacle. The fact that this all functions with the same electronic elements as 21335 Motorised Lighthouse only makes the project more astounding.

That official LEGO Ideas set (which is currently on sale on LEGO.com) proves that the theme can use electronic elements, giving this submission more of a chance in the second 2025 review.

While the genre of steampunk has not been the subject of a LEGO Ideas set so far, despite several proposals, the LEGO Group most recently warmed up to the genre in 71048 Series 27, and at least 10,000 fans will be hoping that this is a sign of things to come.

For now, the motorised model joins the second 2025 LEGO Ideas review, as part of the latest group of projects to suddenly rush to 10,000 supporters.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
