DuckTales: The Money Bin banks in 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas

Fans of DuckTales will be thrilled to see that Scrooge McDuck’s Money Bin has reached 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas.

The classic animated show, which began in 1987 and ran till 1990, and recently got rebooted from 2017 to 2021, has crossed generations to become a beloved household name for many people. The Money Bin itself, which Scrooge famously enjoys swimming in, has been recreated by Matteo Sxa, known as sxavalentine on LEGO Ideas. The project was created on May 24, 2021, and will now move onto the review phase.

The project so far seems incredibly versatile, as it’s a functioning piggy bank that can store actual coins as well as being a fun build to display or play with. As well as being able to store money the three floors have several traps, removable sections, and even a secret passageway for LEGO builders to explore.

The Money Bin wouldn’t be the LEGO Group’s first DuckTales creation, as we’ve seen many other nods to the show in the past. We’ve seen Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey and Louie as both LEGO BrickHeadz figures and in the Disney Series 2 collectable minifigures, and Donald and Daisy Duck were available in the Disney Series 1 minifigures collection. However, if approved, this will be the first set that includes an actual setting with details that stay true to the show.
