LEGO City 2024 reviews

LEGO City is the new home of LEGO Space – along with a bunch of other themes in 2024, but this is the most traditional expression – and we are very much here for it. We’ve also tackled a bunch of the new LEGO City fire sets, because what is LEGO City without a bunch of new fire sets?

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 2024 reviews

The first LEGO Collectible Minifigures series to drop in 2024 is an absolute corker, bringing us a couple of must-have minifigures in the Vampire Knight and Goat Herder – but there are plenty of other cool characters in the mix, too.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2024 reviews

Another theme that continually sails under the radar, LEGO Monkie Kid is nonetheless continuing to do interesting things in 2024, which the LEGO Group says is the theme’s fifth anniversary (it originally debuted in 2020, but in China – the theme’s major market – anniversaries start counting from one rather than zero).80054 Megapolis City 5th Anniversary is its flagship set so far, and it’s got a lot going on.

LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog 2024 reviews

LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog has had a relatively quiet start to 2024 after a bombastic launch wave in summer 2023, but there’s still a few things to discover in these sets for franchise fans. Just don’t ask us why Knuckles needs a mech.

LEGO Speed Champions 2024 reviews

The prices of its sets may have increased yet again in 2024, but LEGO Speed Champions somehow still offers the best value for money of any theme out there – at least from a build perspective, because there are some seriously complex techniques that have gone into bringing this year’s five cars (so far) to life.

Don’t write these 4+ sets off until you’ve had chance to properly scrutinise their contents, because while the builds might not be for you, there are some pretty fun minifigures in the mix – and some unusual parts that might just make them worth a look, at least when discounted.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 reviews

LEGO Star Wars is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2024, and got the party started proper in March with the introduction of two new obscure LEGO minifigures in Darth Malak and ARC Trooper Fives. Between those two characters, a surprisingly appealing buildable Artoo, three new midi-scale ships and maybe the best-value battle pack in recent memory, things are off to a strong start.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
