LEGO Ideas project marches to the beat of 10,000 supporters

The latest LEGO Ideas project to make it into the 10K Club pays tribute to the Ohio State Marching Bang, with a focus on including every member.

Fan designer An Interesting Penguin’s Ohio State University Marching Band build has become the latest set to gain 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build features a brick-built figure of an Ohio State University Marching Band member, in a style that takes inspiration from both Brickheadz and the buildable Star Wars and Marvel figures we’ve had recently.

There are also a number of different possible instruments included, such as a trumpet, trombone, baritone, sousaphone, snare drum, cymbals, or bass drum. This allows for greater customisation within the set, with the builder choosing which instruments they want to include.

It’s perhaps fitting that such a community-focused build has gained popularity among the LEGO community, with the designer highlighting that versatility and inclusion were chief concerns for the design.

“The skin tone of the model should be interchangeable, similar to the instrument builds,” they wrote. “This would be to help people of different backgrounds feel represented by this set.”

Of course, An Interesting Penguin’s design is not yet confirmed as a LEGO Ideas set but goes into the first 2025 review, to be in with a chance of making it onto shelves. Here’s a reminder of the competition below.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
