Historical yet fantastical ship earns LEGO Ideas review spot

The final LEGO Ideas project of 2023 to reach a review round takes inspiration from multiple historical ships with an appropriate crew of minifigures.

Iyan Ha’s Galley of Heroes is the last LEGO Ideas project of 2023 to pass into a review round, earning a place in the third 2023 review. It uses 2,330 parts and depicts one familiar but fantastical ship, a crew of four minifigures, a display stand and a chicken.

While the majority of the design for this ship appears to take inspiration from Egyptian vessels, the user makes it clear that this is an entirely fictional ship crewed by heroes of a bygone era. It’s design is still rife with detail though and there’s even a small interior space.

It joins over 30 other projects in the third 2023 LEGO Ideas review round, which is likely to end soon given that it is now 2024.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
