Stunning book sculpture fishes for support on LEGO Ideas

LEGO Ideas’ first 2025 review round continues to grow today with the addition of an impressive sculpture based on The Old Man and the Sea.

Iyan ha is back in another LEGO Ideas review round, after five unsuccessful attempts at proposing a set for the popular theme. This time they’ve found success with a sculpture based on Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. The 1,300-piece model proposes a single minifigure, a boat and the book’s giant Marlin.

Similar to 21350 Jaws, the model is designed so that sub-builds can detach from the main book centrepiece and be displayed individually and LEGO Ideas’ experience with books is extensive too. Provided that there’s no issue with the license for the story, the proposed build would be fairly familiar territory for the LEGO Ideas team with seemingly no major difficulties to approach.

That’s only speculation on our part though and right now, the impressive model has joined many others in the first 2025 review round.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
