Another 3D art recreation passes into LEGO Ideas review

The latest LEGO Ideas project to enter the second 2022 review proposes another 3D art model – a concept that has been successful in past rounds.

21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night launched earlier this year, depicting the iconic artwork in a three-dimensional build that saw elements of the painting standing in front of the frame, which could then be hung on a wall.

Similar to that concept, LEGOverwatch‘s The Great Wave off Kanagawa submission, inspired by the artwork of the same name, has reached 10,000 supporters on the platform, giving it a chance to become a future LEGO set as long as it impresses the judges in the current review round.

The shaping of the wave and the use of robotic arm elements for the white crest make this an arguably stunning display piece, though one that is potentially better suited to being showcased on a shelf rather than hung on a wall like 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
